سگ و زمستان بلند داستان دختری به نام حوری که از ۱۵سالگی درگیر و تحت تاثیر افکار برادرش حسین می‌شود. حسین جوانی است که فعال سیاسی است و به همین دلیل ۳ سال به زندان می‌رود و این شروع تیره روزی اوست که حتی پدر و مادر از او فاصله می‌گیرند و تنها رابط او با خانواده و کل جهان حوری است و البته سنگ صبور او نیز هست. مرگ حسین باعث می‌شود حوری وارث افکار مبارزه طلبانه برادر شود.
