این کتاب نخستین پژوهش فراگیر ویژه‌ی آربی اوانسیان است كه در ایران به چاپ می‌رسد و با این كه دیرهنگام چاپ می‌شود ولی دربردارنده‌ی ویژگی‌هایی است كه آن را هم‌چنان نو نگاه داشته است. دیرهنگام بودن این كتاب از آن روست كه همچون بخشی از پیشینه‌ی تئاتر و سینمای ایران در تاریكی به سر برده است. و نو بودن آن نیز از این روست كه خوانندگان در آن گوشه‌هایی از این پیشینه‌ی تاریك را به روشنی خواهند دید.
