اهمیت و لزوم پژوهش در زبان فارسی معیار، هنگامی روشنتر خواهد شد که بدانیم مباحث نظری دربارۀ زبان معیار و معیارسازی به زبان فارسی بسیار اندک است. درواقع هرچند بحث و بررسی در زمینۀ معیارسازی چندگاهی است که دنبال شده است، با این همه هیچ پژوهش، مستقل و همهجانبهای در این باره صورت نگرفته است. تا آنجا که میدانیم این نخستین کتاب مستقلی است که به زبان فارسی معیار و روند شکلگیری و تحول آن پرداخته است.
