اين داستان در سال ۱۹۶۳ به چاپ رسيد و باز هم دو داستان بلندی است درباره خانواده گلس. محور اصلي داستان زندگي و مرگ تراژیک سيمور گلس ارشد ـ يا در واقع مرشد ـ فرزندان خانواده گلس است كه از زبان بادی گلس روايت میشود. بسياری از منتقدان، بادی گلس را خود ديگر سلينجر خواندهاند.
