دربارهی این اثر، به قلم زمان خیری میخوانیم: «اثری که پیش روی شماست مجموعهی 28 رنگ و ضربی قدیمی از ساختههای آهنگسازان و نوازندگان صاحبنام ایران از اواخر دوره ی قاجار تا پهلوی اول است که برای سازهای ایرانی انتخاب، آوانگاری و تنظیم شده است. هر چند این مجموعه در ابتدا به منظور استفادهی کلیهی سازهای ایرانی تهیه شد، اما در ادامه با رویکرد تخصصی برای استفادهی نوازندگان نی منتشر گردید.»
