دكتر ضیاء موحد، شاعر و فیلسوف ایرانی معاصر در سال ۱۳۲۱ خورشیدی در اصفهان متولد شد. وی پس از گذراندن دوران كودكی و دبستان و دبیرستان در رشته فیزیك در دانشگاه پذیرفته شد. در همین زمان، استاد با محافل ادبی و انجمنها نیز در ارتباط بود. وی در دهه پنجاه برای ادامه تحصیل به انگلستان رفت و در رشته فلسفه مشغول به تحصیل شد و پس از اخذ درجه دكتری به ایران بازگشت. وی در ایران در دانشگاههای مختلف تدریس نموده و آثار متعددی نیز به چاپ رسانیده است.
