محمد کلباسی نوشتن را در دهه ی چهل آغاز کرد. و از پایه گذاران اصلی جنگ ادبی اصفهان بود. انتشار مجموعه داستان سرباز کوچک از سری کتاب های زمان، در اواخر دهه ی پنجاه قدر ندید و مهجور ماند. انتشار دوباره آن پس از گذشت نیم قرن، ادای دین اندکی است بر یک عمر فعالیت ادبی این نویسنده ی بی ادعای دیار زاینده رود.
