در بخشی از داستان «صورتی‌های پشت پنجره» می‌خوانیم: حالا غروب‌ها بنفشه می‌آید، ولی دیگر تنها نیست، تمام پهنای کوچه باریک را دخترهایی گرفته‌اند که پیراهن‌های حریر صورتی دارند. هیچ کدام چادر و روسری ندارند. به جای آن دور گردن‌های بی‌استخوانشان یک حلقه طناب گره خورده که دنباله‌اش روی زمین می‌کشد و خرت خرت صدا می‌کند. بعضی‌ها حلقه‌ها را دست گرفته‌اند و توی همهمه گنگی نزدیک پنجره می‌شوند.
