والپارایزو دومین نمایشنامهٔ دون دلیلو است که در آن مردی بهدلیل اشتباهی که در برنامهٔ سفر خطوط پروازی رخ میدهد، ناگهان بهشهرت میرسد. او بهجای یک سفر عادی تجاری به والپارایزوی ایندیانا، به والپاریزوی شیلی میرود. دلیلو در این نمایشنامه نگاهی انتقادی به تأثیر رسانهها بر انسان مدرن دارد. شخصیت اصلی، مایکل ماژسکی، ناامیدانه تلاش میکند هویتش را در پرتو شهرتش تثبیت کند.
