با پدیدآمدن نشریات موسوم به دوم خردادی و بهخصوص در فاصلۀ بین سالهای 79 ـ 76 رفته رفته گرافیك و كاریكاتور سهم عمدهای در مطبوعات پیدا كرد. هادی حیدری كه خود یكی از مشهورترین كاریكاتوریستهای این دوره است سعی كرده تا در این اثر به بررسی كاریكاتورهای عرضه شده در مطبوعات (كه بعضاً بسیار جنجالی هم شدند) بپردازد و آنها را چه از حیث فرم و چه از نظر محتوا تحلیل كند.
