فیلیپ، بازرس سابق بیمه، با دوستش به سفر و گردش خود در ایتالیا از شهری به شهر دیگر ادامه می دهند. لینا زنی زیبا که از او مسن تر است، بسیار ثروتمند و در ضمن خودرای است. آنها در این سفر پر ماجرا با یک راننده تاکسی ایتالیایی و یک دختر جوان و زیبایش هم سفر می شوند. مقصد نهایی پاریس است اما شخصیت ضعیف و ناتوان فیلیپ پیاپی حادثه می آفریند که سرانجام به فاجعه می انجامد......
