این کتاب حاصل گزارش نماینده دولت فرانسه در مورد مسیرها و فرصتهای تجاری در مشرق زمین است و بخشی از آن به استان هرمزگان اختصاص دارد. اهمیت این کتاب بیشتر از آن جهت است که نخستین منبع مکتوبی می باشد که گزارش مفصلی از جغرافیای تاریخی کرانه های شمالی خلیج فارس ارائه می دهد. این کتاب داری چهار بخش«از بصره تا کنگ»، «سفر از کنگ به سورات»، «سفر از سورات به بندرعباس» و «سفر از بندرعباس به بصره» است.
