در طریقت صوفیان، حکم بر این است که نو سفران سلوک راه حق، باید راه از راه دان بپرسند و زمام اختیار به کف با کفایت امیر این کاروان کاردان بسپارند که بارها، سفر کرده و عقبات و خطرات گذرگاه ها را می شناسد و نیک می داند که مسافران مشتاق را در چنین سفر روحانی از کدام طریق ومسیر بگذراند که نه بیم غارت دزدان باشد و نه رنج راه و ملالت و مشقت سفر، روح و جان روندگان را آزرده کند.
