"شاهنامه و آرتور کریستینسن" دارای دو بخش است. بخش نخست آن پیشگفتاریست که آرتور کریستینسن بر ترجمهی خود از شاهنامهی فردوسی نوشته است. وی در این بخش، پس از شرح زندگی فردوسی و زمان او، به بررسی دستمایههای فردوسی برای سرودن شاهنامه میپردازد.
مسعود کدخدایی در بخش دوم این کتاب به بررسی رابطهی کریستنسن با ایران و نقد دید مثبت او نسبت به دیکتانوری رضاشاه میپردازد.
