کتاب حاضر از مجموعه کتابهای حلقه ساحران است. در این بخش از مجموعه، ثور درگیر کشمکشی درونی برای پذیرفتن هویت واقعی خود میشود. او در بازگشت به حلقه، شمشیر سرنوشت را در دست میگیرد تا با همراهی لشکر مایکلوپ ها از لشکر آندرونیکوس انتقام بگیرد و سرزمین مادرش را پس بگیرد. ثور در فکر این است که از گوئندولین نیز تقاضای ازدواج کند، اما خیلی زود میفهمد که موانع نیرومندی در سر راهش قرار گرفته است.
