فرناندو آرابال، نمایش نامه نویس ،شاعر داستان نویس کارگردان تئاتر و سینما به سال 1932 در اسپانیا به دنیا آمد در دانشگاه مادرید به تحصیل حقوق پرداخت نوشتن را در اوایل دهه ی 1950 پیش گرفت و در سال 1955 برای تحصیل در رشته ی نمایش به پاریس رفت نخستین اثرش پیک نیک در میدان جنگ تحت تأثیر آوانگاردیسم فرانسوی در سال 1958 منتشر شد. او را به همراه رولان توپور و الخاندرو ژودوروفسکی از پیشگامان تئاتر پانیک (شقاوت) برمی شمرند.
