کتابهای مفتون دوره کامل شعر ایران است، او از غزل شروع کرد و به شعر سپید رسید. او گونههای مختلف شعر را تجربه کرد. جوانگرایی در شعر از ویژگیهای جذاب شعر مفتون امینی بود. او تعصبی نداشت و طنز او جالب بود و رندی خاصی داشت که برایم جذاب بود. او از شاعران نیمایی مطرح بود.در سالهایی که شعر نیمایی در اوج بود، شعرهای توسن و کوه سهند، از شعرهای معروف آن زمان بود. باید قدردان مفتون باشیم.
