این کتاب به بررسی سه فصل پایانی از یسن‌های اوستا و متن زند آنها اختصاص دارد. "یسن‌ها مهم‌ترین بخش اوستاست چون گذشته از گاهان که کهن‌ترین اثر بازمانده از ایرانیان و سروده خود زرتشت است شامل دعاهای مشهور زرتشتی و نیایش‌های دیگر است. سه بخش پایانی یسن‌ها، که موضوع کتاب حاضر است، در ستایش امشاسپندان، ایزدان، ردان و هم آفریده‌های نیک از یک سو و نکوهش اهریمن، دروغ زنان، سست پیمانان و پیمان شکنان از سوی دیگر است".
