کتاب حاضر، شامل تاریخ ایران از ابتدای استیلای چنگیز تا تاسیس دولت تیموری یعنی از اوایل قرن هفت تا نیمۀ دوم قرن نهم و متضمن دورۀ سلطنت ایلخانان بر ایران و سلسلههای محلی کوچک چون ملوک کرت، اتابکان فارس و ملوکشبانکاره، چوپانیان، آل مظفر، آل اینجو و... است که در فاصلۀ این دو قرن و نیم بر بعضی مناطق سلطنت و امارت داشتهاند.
