مجموعه حاضر شامل مقالاتی است در معرفی ادبیات معاصر ایران و زندگی و مهمترین آثار ۹۵ تن شاعر و نویسنده دوره معاصر فارسی است. مجموعه با مقاله درباره ادبیات معاصر ایران آغاز میشود. آغاز ادبیات معاصر فارسی را معمولا انقلاب مشروطه (۱۳۲۴ق/۱۲۸۵ش) یا زمانی دانستهاند که ادبیات ایران، بر اثر مواجهه با ادبیات غرب، از حالت سنتی به شیوه نو گرایش یافت.
