با آغاز قرن بیستم که مسیر مطالعات زبانشناختی با اندیشهها و جهتگیریهای زبانی تغییر یافت، پژوهشهای زبانی در دنیای عرب نیز تحت تاُثیر قرار گرفت، به گونهای که پژوهشگران زبان عربی بر آن شدند تا در راستای ایدهٔ جهانی بودن دستور زبان حرکت کنند. دکتر محمد ابراهیم عبادة در این کتاب با روشی جامع و در عین حال ساده و کاربردی در تحلیل جمله، سعی در ایجاد پلی ارتباطی میان میراث نحوی قدیم و مطالعات زبانی جدید کرده است.
