کتاب ادامه ی کتاب «انسانی بسیار انسانی» است. به طوریکه کتاب از صفحه ۳۷۳ شروع و در صفحه ۷۰۳ تمام میشود. نیچه با پاراگراف های کوتاه و بلند و شماره گذاری شده به بیان نظرات خویش در رابطه با موضوعات مختلف میپردازد. وی عقاید و آراء فیلسوفانی چون سقراط، شوپنهاور را در مورد موضوعاتی عنوان و سپس به دفاع یا انتقاد از آن عقاید میپردازد. در قسمتهایی تیز از آثار گوته صحبت، و یا از زبان آلمانی دفاع میکند
